In a purportedly leaked audio clip circulated on social media, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman can be heard blasting at the State Bank of India (SBI) chairman in a meeting held in Assam with many other officials. She also said that SBI is a “heartless bank”. Talking about this, Thomas Franco, former general secretary of All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC), said, “The FM is finding scapegoats for the mistakes by her and the Narendra Modi-led BJP government. It is their failing policies, including demonetisation, causing such a problematic situation.”
